NTC goes Global!
Going beyond in the UAE for a more sustainable future.
After submitting an application to the Zayed Sustainability Prize and receiving an acknowledgement of our entry, NTC were incredibly surprised to receive a call from the event organisers. We assumed they wanted more information about our bid, to our amazement, they were informing us we had been shortlisted as finalists!!
The good news didn't stop there...NTC were one of only 3 finalists in the Europe and Central Asia schools category. If we were lucky enough to win, we would secure $55,000 of funding for NTC. To top this, Mr Jones and two students were invited to attend the awards ceremony, in person, in Abu Dhabi - all expenses paid.
It later transpired, the Zayed Sustainability prize was part of a much larger event - the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week or ADSW. This incredibly prestigious event is well attended by heads of state, presidents and senior politicians from every continent. Our students would be debating important climate change and sustainability issues on a global stage - what an opportunity!
This past week, Mr Jones, Ben and Shimon travelled to Abu Dhabi to represent NTC. They have taken part in the IRENA youth forum, attended expos and presentations, debated climate change and our response to it, understood why scientists keep talking about 1.5 degrees, presented their own vision for a sustainable future at NTC, visited the desert and some of the unique architecture in the city...all culminating in today's awards ceremony.
Good luck team NTC - whatever the outcome, we are all incredibly proud of you.
