Communities

At NTC, we take pride in fostering a sense of support, teamwork and healthy competition through our Communities.  Each student is assigned to one of 5 Communities upon entering the school, where they remain throughout their time with us.  Our Communities: Helios, Ikenga, Thor, Poseidon and Hercules reflect the values we uphold and serve as a foundation for building camaraderie, leadership and school spirit.

Our Communities within NTC have a profound impact on the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our students and staff and play key roles in shaping the culture and dynamics of our school environment. Here are some key impacts of our Community system:

Student Engagement

Being part of a Community fosters a sense of belonging and inclusion among students. Students who feel connected are more likely to participate in school activities, feel motivated and achieve academically.

Positive Relationships

School Communities help students build relationships with peers and staff, contributing to a supportive environment that encourages learning and personal growth.

Collaborative Learning

When students work in study groups or school clubs, they collaborate and learn from one another which can enhance their understanding of subjects and improve academic performance.

Peer Support

Communities, like sports teams, clubs or student councils offer a platform for students to form friendships, navigate social challenges and develop interpersonal skills. Communities at NTC encourage friendly rivalry through a variety of academic, athletic and creative competitions held throughout the year.  Whether it’s excelling in sports, showcasing talents in art or demonstrating academic excellence, every student contributes to their Communities’ overall success.  Beyond competition, our Communities promote mentorship, with older students guiding and supporting younger peers, creating a close-knit and supportive environment for all.

Diversity and Inclusion
