Apprenticeship Opportunities 

ARM have recently announced their Degree Apprenticeship program. This gives students the opportunity to complete a 4 Year Degree Program studying Embedded Electronics Systems Engineering with ARM, whilst studying one day a week at university.

STEM twilight lectures - still time to book!

27th and 28th February 2024

Virtual Chemistry Lecture: Tooth Enamel

Take a look closer at the chemistry of this fascinating material and learn how to best look after yours! This lecture will be taking place on Tuesday 27th February at 5-6pm, via Zoom.

Hybrid Maths Lecture: The Maths of 29th February

We’ll explore the fascinating mathematics of leap years and we'll also teach you how to quickly work out in your head the day of the week of any date in history (using a method devised by the great mathematician John Conway).

This lecture will take place both on-campus at the Greenwich Campus and online, on Wednesday 28th February at 5-6pm. Students can choose whether to attend in person or virtually when booking. Location information as well as a map can be found on the booking form.

Maths Fair

Our annual mathematics event for schools, Greenwich Maths Time, will take place on Wednesday 26 June 2024, 10:00 – 3:00 at our Greenwich campus.  The event is supported by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications and the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme.  There will be a range of workshops and hands-on activities as well as a Treasure Hunt.  Students from years 9 to 13 will find activities to excite and inspire them. 

 

We have already confirmed sessions with Rob Eastaway, Aoife Hunt MBE, Takita Bartlett, Robyn Goldsmith, and Maths Explorers and they will be joined by other maths communicators as well as the Greenwich maths team.  For further detail and booking, please visit here

 

Analytical Taster Days (Medway campus)

Analytical Taster Days give year 13 students the opportunity to visit our analytical laboratories on campus, participating in workshops in:

  • Infrared spectroscopy

  • Mass spectrometry

  • Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy

  • High-performance liquid chromatography

  • Gas chromatography

Spaces can be booked between 17 – 28 June. Please email FES-events@gre.ac.uk to book your space.

Chemistry Teacher Day – SAVE the DATE

In collaboration with the STEM Hub, we will be hosting a Chemistry Teachers Day on 6 July 2024 at the Medway campus. Join us to discover new material and methods to teach chemistry/science to engage and inspire children in schools. There will be keynote speakers, workshops, practical lab sessions, and sessions for technical staff that will all count towards CPD.

Twilight webinars
