Ikenga

Welcome to NTC and to the Ikenga Learning Community!

When a student joins NTC, they are placed into a Community, which they remain part of throughout their time here. I am very proud to say that you have been assigned to one of the very best Communities: Ikenga.

My name is Mr Lorraine, and I am the Head of the Ikenga Learning Community. Your Learning Coach and Pastoral Support Manager will work closely with you and your teachers to ensure you achieve your full potential during your time at NTC.

As a Community, we take part in a wide range of activities, including Community Hour, Assemblies, Inter‑Community competitions, and events that raise money for and support charities. Our competitions include Football, Basketball, and the whole‑school Sports Day. During Community Hour, we work in mixed‑age groups from Year 7 to Year 11, exploring our environment, learning about the wider world, and developing our understanding of our bodies and how to stay healthy. We also celebrate success in our termly Achievement Assembly. If you have worked hard or supported others, your teachers may nominate you for an Achievement Certificate.

Ikenga is also known as the Red Community, as red is the colour of our Zone and the colour we proudly wear during Inter‑Community competitions. 

You are now part of one of the friendliest and kindest Communities. We believe that when we work together as a team, we can achieve anything. I am really looking forward to you becoming part of the Community Team and hope that you enjoy your time at NTC.
