The International Baccalaureate Computer Science course develops high-level skills in the major aspects of computing. It prepares students for a career in or linked to computing.
The course will develop programming skills in at least two programming languages; build understanding of hardware and how it interacts online and offline. Computational and logic skills are enhanced throughout enabling students to tackle and solve a wide range of technical problems.
The course can be followed at Standard or Higher Level and is assessed through examination and project evidence.
Module 1 is taught and examined in the following subject areas (40%):
Topic 1: System fundamentals
Topic 2: Computer organization
Topic 3: Networks
Topic 4: Computational thinking, problem-solving and programming
Module 2 is taught and examined through a case study (20%):
Module 3 is taught and examined in one of the following areas (20%):

Option B: Modelling and simulation
Option C: Web science
Option D: Object-oriented programming (OOP)
