Subject Title: Performing Arts – Acting

Level 3 Qualification: EDEXCEL BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Performing Arts (Acting)

Grade ranges: Distinction / Merit / Pass

Method of assessment: During the course you will complete 4 units of work, they are broken up into the following:

Unit 1 – Investigating Practitioners Work (External Exam)

Unit 2 – Developing Skills for Live Performance (Internal Assessment)

Unit 3 – Group Performance Workshop (Internal Assessment)

Unit 19 – Acting Styles (Internal Assessment)

Length of course: 2 years

Course Information

You will receive first class training at the NTC Performing Arts academy. On the Drama pathway you will work with other students from other areas as well as those on your course to create, produce, rehearse and share performances. These may take the form of smaller class assessments or larger full scale school and public productions. You will have access to our state of the art facilities and rapidly developing stage and performance spaces; not only this but during the course there may be chances to use external performance spaces.

During the 2 years you will develop your confidence and work closely with other students to build a sense of unity and collaboration; this is an exciting time for NTC’s Performing Arts department and you can be part of something special as we continue to grow the successful course. You will study a variety of units and gain a broad range of performance skills and knowledge. You will have regular performance workshop support where you will develop your craft in terms of voice and movement as well as specific support from current professionals working within the performing arts business.

 

Entry requirements: 5A* – C including a relevant Drama qualification (GCSE, BTEC Level 1, etc)

Possible exit routes: We will train students so that you can progress to Drama School or a practical University Course. You may also want to look more into theory/educational work at any of the leading universities. Alternatively, you may go straight into the performing arts business.
