Thomas Riversdale Colyer-Fergusson VC
On Friday 2nd December, the first session of the NTC History Society took place at Gravesend Library. To commemorate the centenary of the death and award of the Victoria Cross, to local man Thomas Riversdale Colyer-Fergusson VC, the society will be researching his life and creating an interpretation/memorial board. This will be sited at the entrance to the school next year, to coincide with his death in Belgium on 31st July 1917. At Gravesend Library, the boys investigated maps of the local area, family history, photographs of Colyer-Fergusson and articles about him in local newspapers. A great learning experience was had by all and in January the society will be heading to The National Archives to continue their work.
